Book
Beginnings on Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader. Every Friday we
share the first sentence (or so) of the book we’re currently reading, along
with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or
anything else the opener inspires.
My
Book Beginning:
I rode into Ashville, North Carolina, for all the wrong reasons, from the wrong direction, on a borrowed bike, with no weapons, ready to work for the vamps again. It was stupid all around, but it was the gig I signed up for, and I was all about satisfying the client, keeping him safe, eliminating the danger, and finishing the job.
My
Thoughts: It’s unusual for Jane to go
interview for or work for a vampire without being fully armed to the teeth so I’m
curious as to why she’s going in the way she is.

My
56 (Also from Raven Cursed by Faith Hunter ):
Beast slammed into my mind again and glared. Growled. Kem blinked. A moment later, he slid into the shadows. I looked at Rick who was watching me, amusement, speculation, and something warmer hiding in the deeps of his eyes. He held out a hand, indicting the nearly sheer wall, wet with falling water. “After You.”
My Thoughts: I have to admit that I’m surprised that
Kembi, aka Kem, is hanging around with Jane since they really didn’t become
friends in the last book. I’m also happy
to see Jane and Rick still together and wonder how he’s getting along with “Beast”.
So

About
Raven Cursed (Jane Yellowrock, Book 4) by Faith Hunter
The vampires of Asheville, North Carolina, want
to establish their own clan, but since they owe loyalty to the Master Vampire
of New Orleans they must work out the terms with him. To come up with an
equitable solution, he sends an envoy with the best bodyguard blood money can
buy: Jane Yellowrock.
But when a group of local campers are attacked by something fanged, Jane goes from escort to investigator. Unless she wants to face a very angry mast vampire, she will have to work overtime to find the killer. It's a good thing she's worth every penny.
