Book
Beginnings on Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Every Friday we
share the first sentence (or so) of the book we’re currently reading, along
with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or
anything else the opener inspires.
My
Book Beginning:
The Changeling Omnibus (The Changelling Series, Books 1&2) by James Fahy
Isle of Winds (Book 1) PrologueThe girl raced through the forest, tumbling through deep drifts of autumn leaves. Moonlight washed down from the starry sky, illuminating her darting figure.
My Thoughts: I have been following this author on Instagram for a while now and thought I would give one of his best selling books a try. I have a love/hate relationship with fantasy books so it will be interesting to see how I feel about this.

My
56 (Also from The Changeling Omnibus by James Fahy – about 56% on Kindle):
The faun beemed his white teeth proudly. "It's a sculpture!: he cried with glee as the others gathered round to see. "It's you!"
My Thoughts: I'm not sure if this is still in the first book or not - lol - but it sounds interesting and I am looking forward to jumping into this book and seeing how I like it.
So
what do you think? Are you tempted by
the teasers or book description? Don’t forget to leave your link below and at Freda’s Voice.

Isle of Winds
Enter the Netherworlde…
Become the Changeling.
Robin Fellows lives with his grandmother and lives what appears to be a rather
ordinary life for a normal twelve year old boy.
But when Robin’s Gran dies, his world is turned upside down. A long lost
relative comes out of the woodwork and whisks him away to a mysterious new
home, the quiet estate of Erlking Hall.
Suddenly Robin must adjust to his new reality. But reality is no longer what he
thought it was…
Elrking has many secrets – there is more than meets the eye to this old
mansion, and the people who inhabit it.
Little does he know that there is more
than meets the eye to himself.
Robin is the world’s last Changeling. He is descended from a mystic race of
Fae-people, whose homeland, the Netherworlde, is caught in the throes of a
terrible civil war.
Not only this, but in this new world there is a magical force that has
infiltrated the human realm.
And before he can master the arts of magic newly revealed to him, Robin is
about to come face to face with the greatest evil this new world can muster:
Lady Eris, the tyrannical ruler of the Netherworlde.
He must search out the truth about himself and the ethereal Towers of Arcania
before it is too late…
The Drowned Tomb
War is coming. Robin’s world has been turned upside down – the tutor he thought
he could trust has been revealed to be an agent of his sworn enemy, Lady Eris.
All is not well at Erlking Hall. The Netherworlde must hasten to face the
greatest threat it has ever known…
Agents of Lady Eris are hot on Robin’s tails, searching for him before he can
find the Shard of Arcania for Water, another source of great power in this new
world.
They will stop at nothing to find it.
Will Robin fulfill his journey to master these ancient magical arts?

I haven't heard of this series before, but it looks pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis rings a bell. I must have come across it somewhere. Lovely opening and you got me curious about who the sculpture is.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday 56 from Deadly Spirits
This series is new to me and I read a lot of fantasy including this week's book. This week I'm spotlighting Blood Passage by Heather Demetrios. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious for more! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteNot a usual reader of fantasy, although some of it is intriguing. Loved the excerpts! Thanks for sharing...and here's mine: “THE STEP MOTHER”
ReplyDeleteFantasy isn't my favorite genre, but I haven't read one in awhile either. Maybe I should give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI have The Mill River Recluse, which is hard to place in a single genre.http://blog.robertagibsonwrites.com/2017/01/12/bookbeginnings-darcie-chans-mill-river-recluse/
This sounds really great! Thanks for sharing! :)
