My
Review
They say you’ll always remember two things from high
school no matter how old you are…..your most memorable moment and your most embarrassing
moment. For the characters in Lori Wilde’s All Out
of Love, it’s the latter - the most embarrassing moment – the moment
you know will haunt you to your grave.
With likable characters, good dialogue, a bit of sweet and spicy romance
and the matchmaking women of Cupid, Texas, Ms.
Wilde reminds us that love can conquer anything, including the loss of one’s
pride. Having an old town legend inspiring
letters to Cupid doesn’t hurt either.
Used to being considered somewhat of an oddball, Lace
Bettingfield no longer believes in the legend of Cupid. The victim of a high school prank, which
exposed her secret crush to the whole school, Lace has come a long way from the
shy, stuttering girl she was. Intelligent,
independent and built somewhat like Marilyn Monroe, Lace has a PHD in plant
biology and doesn’t have time to waste on worthless men. Especially when the man in question is the
injured star quarterback and all around playboy of a professional football
team, who just happens to be her brother’s best friend and her secret childhood
crush.
Home to help his ill father and recover from his own
injury, Pierce Hollister is tired of living the fast life of a professional
football player. Hoping for a change in
his life, Pierce is unprepared when he’s completely ignored by his best friend’s
sister. A woman he knew had a crush on
him in high school. Realizing Lace is
not going to fall to her knees and worship at his feet, Pierce will have to
decide if being attracted to a real woman is the change he needs.
I really enjoyed the scenes between Lace and Pierce as
adults, Ms. Wilde does a good job
with their verbal and emotional give and take.
Even though Lace still has a little bit of an issue about her figure, she’s
come a long way from the girl she was in high school. Meanwhile Pierce realizes for the first time
that if he really wants a chance with Lace, he’ll have to leave his playboy
lifestyle behind and let her see the real man underneath.
