Book
Beginnings on Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Every Friday we
share the first sentence (or so) of the book we’re currently reading, along
with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or
anything else the opener inspires.
My
Book Beginning:
The skull glared at me out of empty eye sockets. Odd runes marked it's forehead, carved into the yellowed bone and filled in with ink.
My Thoughts: This is a very interesting beginning - especially for those who have been following this series. We don't know who is looking at the skull, where it is or why the person/persons are there.

Friday
56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda at Freda’s Voice on every Friday.
To Play along
here are the Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your post below.
*Don’t
forget to add your post URL (not your blog url) at Freda’s Voice.
*It's that simple.

My
56 (Also from Magic Binds (Kate Daniels, Book 9) by Illona Andrews – about 56% on Kindle):
I reached for the blanket. Her wings snapped open. The left wing took me right below the neck. It was like being hit with a two-by-four. I fell and scrambled to my feet in case she decided to stomp me.
My Thoughts: While this doesn't exactly tell you what's going on - it's a good snippet of this particular scene and it's from Kate's point of view. I've actually finished this now and since the next book in this series won't come out until next year - I'll be moving on to a different series by this author while I wait.
So what do
you think? Do the teasers tempt you at all?

About
Magic Binds (Kate Daniels, Book 9) by Ilona Andrews
Kate and the former Beast Lord Curran Lennart are
finally making their relationship official. But there are some steep obstacles
standing in the way of their walk to the altar...
Kate’s father, Roland, has kidnapped the demigod Saiman and is slowly bleeding him dry in his never-ending bid for power. A Witch Oracle has predicted that if Kate marries the man she loves, Atlanta will burn and she will lose him forever. And the only person Kate can ask for help is long dead.
The odds are impossible. The future is grim. But Kate Daniels has never been one to play by the rules...
