Book
Beginnings on Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Every Friday we
share the first sentence (or so) of the book we’re currently reading, along
with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or
anything else the opener inspires.
My
Book Beginning:
I rode through the night-drenched streets of Atlanta on a mammoth donkey. The donkey's name was Cuddles. She was ten feet tall, including the ears, and her black-and-white hide suggested she might have held up a Holstein cow in some dark alley and was now wearing her clothes.
My Thoughts: Kate has some very interesting "transportation" issues and I believe this is her 2nd donkey - her first one perished in an "unfortunate" incident...lol...so I'll admit to being a little worried about "Cuddles".

My
56 (Also from Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels, Book 8) by Illona Andrews – about 56% on Kindle):
“You do remember him?" Julie whisptered.“Of course, I remember him."She snickered.
My Thoughts: I've already read past this part so I know exactly who Kate and Julie are talking about and this is really a funny scene in the story. I'm liking this book quite a bit and think it's another strong addition to the series.
So what do
you think? Do the teasers tempt you at all?

About
Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels, Book 8) by Ilona Andrews
After breaking from life with the Pack, mercenary
Kate Daniels and her mate—former Beast Lord Curran Lennart—are adjusting to a
very different pace. While they’re thrilled to escape all the infighting,
Curran misses the constant challenges of leading the shapeshifters.
So when the Pack offers him its stake in the Mercenary Guild, Curran seizes the opportunity—too bad the Guild wants nothing to do with him and Kate. Luckily, as a veteran merc, Kate can take over any of the Guild’s unfinished jobs in order to bring in money and build their reputation. But what Kate and Curran don’t realize is that the odd jobs they’ve been working are all connected.
An ancient enemy has arisen, and Kate and Curran are the only ones who can stop it—before it takes their city apart piece by piece…

ReplyDeleteI've got some books by this author and keep meaning to read them. They all sound good. Hopefully, Cuddles doesn't know what happened with the last donkey. I'm trying to picture a ten foot tall one.
