Book Beginnings & Friday 56 - #8

Book Beginnings on Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader. Every Friday we share the first sentence (or so) of the book we’re currently reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.

My Book Beginning:

From Prussia with Love by Tina Christopher

Clara Redbeck, currently traveling under the name Clara Riesenbeck, paused at the bottom of the ramp and studied the Bismarck. The dirigible was one of the modern multilevel models and would take her all the way from Tilsit, on the east coast of Prussia, to London. Or as far as she had to go before she fulfilled her mission.

My Thoughts:  This is a book I’ve been reading for review and so far I think it has a promising beginning.

What do you think?  Don't forget to leave your book beginning below and to link-up at Rose City Reader.

Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda’s Voice on every Friday.

To Play along here are the Rules:

*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your post below.
*Don’t forget to add your post URL (not your blog url) at Freda’s Voice.
*It's that simple.

My 56 (Also From Prussia with Love)

She climbed on top of the pallet beside the stack of boxes filled with bombs and studied the floor. There you are. A narrow black cylinder had been attached to the wall. She imagined it responded to movement. She studied the layout of the cargo hold and the routes she could take to get the bombs to her aerocycle. Every one required her to either fly or climb across the top of the boxes in order to avoid the new security device.

My Thoughts:  Things are really beginning to get tense as far as her mission is concerned.  The romance has really, really heated up too.  Definitely a book intended only for adults!

About From Prussia with Love (Victoria’s Secret Agents, Book 1)
by Tina Christopher

Clara Redbeck has one goal: to prove to the sods at work--and to herself--that the best man for the job can be a woman. To do that, she must prevent a traitor from blowing London to bits. If only the dashing first mate of the dirigible she’d been tasked to plunder didn’t set her aflame.

Garrett Dewhurst has one goal: to execute the coup of a lifetime. His plans do not include a spanking dalliance with the most intriguing woman he has ever met.

With each encounter, the fire between them burns hotter and their need grows stronger. Finally, the cramped cabin aboard the Bismarck becomes their intimate playground, where Garrett introduces Clara to the pleasure of submission and they explore their passion in every way possible.

Clara and Garrett want a future together, but each holds a secret that if revealed could cost them everything. With the clock ticking down on the traitor's plan, they'll have to choose between protecting themselves or the whole of London.

Don't forget to post your meme's and link up at both host locations.

Have a great Friday!

    1. Yes, it is definitely a steampunk romance and it's quite a bit hotter than what I normally read

  9. I was intrigued up until the "adult"-ness of it. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a prude when it comes to reading. I skim over those parts pretty well but I'd rather not have to.
