About the book:

Credentials:
• Second generation Former Navy SEAL
• DIRE’s top agent

Enhancements:
• Teleportation
• Invisibility

Raised in the art of warfare, Former Navy SEAL, Tristan Jacobs, has always been a force to reckon with. Now that D.I.R.E. has successfully implemented his scientific enhancements, he’s a walking weapon. Unstoppable, as long as he stays focused. No relationships.

When ex-BUD/S teammate, Aidan Monroe, interrupts his long-awaited sabbatical to call in a favor, Tristan reluctantly fills the simple request: take out his sister’s fiancé.  One problem: Rachel Monroe - smokin’ hot, kind-hearted, and in desperate need of a protector. After the best sex of his life, Tristan’s afraid unstoppable is just a memory. Knowing Aidan’s temper, Tristan could be, too.

Rachel Monroe had a plan to help her mother. Her brother ruined everything when his gorgeous, super-agent friend teleported her to some forsaken island - and his bed. She’s drawn to him despite the fact he’s a professional agent, much like the people suspected of killing her father.
Now, his enemies have come to her small town, looking for vengeance.

Have they found more than they bargained for? Or, does the past have its own retribution in mind?

A fan of comic books, I’ve often wondered about the need we have for superheroes.  Is it because they give us hope? Is it because they pick us up when we’re down? Or is it just because they’re entertaining?  Regardless of the reason, if you like books with super heroes, adventure, a spicy touch of romance and the never ending battle between good and evil, I recommend adding a copy of Joni Hahn’s Agent I1: Tristan to your reading list.  A well written and entertaining look at a modern day hero, Ms. Hahn’s book is full of interesting characters, good dialogue and a light touch of humor.

A former Navy Seal recruited by D.I.R.E., a private security firm (Defense, Intelligence and Reconnaissance Enforcement) involved in black ops, Tristan Jacobs has been “enhanced” with the abilities of invisibility and teleportation.  Scheduled for vacation time and planning to spend it relaxing at his secret home in the Virgin Islands, Tristan reluctantly agrees to help Aidan, a fellow member of D.I.R.E., who needs a favor.  He just didn’t plan on having to teleport Aidan’s sister Rachel away from her own wedding or on falling in love with her.

Rachel Monroe agreed to marry someone she doesn’t love in order to keep her mother out of trouble.  She just didn’t count on her brother interfering with her wedding or on one of his friends kidnapping her and teleporting her to the Virgin Islands.  Now she’ll have to decide between following her heart or on whether she should follow through with an arranged marriage.

The scenes between Tristan and Rachel are fun, full of spirited dialogue and great chemistry.  Attracted to each other, and stuck in an unusual situation, Tristan and Rachel will need to trust each other and share their secrets in order to survive, something that isn’t easy since Tristan’s survival and job both require secrecy.  Ms. Hahn does a good job developing both characters; Tristan is smart, loyal and his super powers are really great, Rachel is smart, has a lot of family drama to deal with and has a mouth that just won’t quit.

The secondary characters are also well written and I especially liked Aidan, Rachel’s brother and Tristan’s teammate, Rachel’s best friend Glenna, who provided a lot of comic relief, and Ben, who everybody wants as a grandfather figure.  I didn’t really care for Rachel’s mom Kate, she was definitely a piece of work, and of course there are the requisite villains required in a superhero book.

Will Tristan and Rachel be able to stay ahead of Tristan’s enemies when they realize he really loves her?  Will Rachel listen to her heart and chose to stay with Tristan in spite of  her agreement to a loveless marriage? You’ll have to read Agent I1: Tristan to find out.  I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next book in this series.
