Chasing the
Legacy
by Genie Gabriel
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Excerpt:
As she led the way up to the top floor of the
house, Layla was overly conscious of Grady behind her. Of the shiver of
excitement that he might be watching the sway of her hips and--
"Here we are." Layla turned and forced
a smile as she pushed away the lure of falling into Grady's arms.
However, his gaze seemed focused on the
magnificent telescope pointed toward the heavens. "Do you come here at
night and watch the stars?"
"Sometimes." Layla tried to keep the
disappointment out of her voice. Didn't Grady find her attractive?
Then he turned his full attention on her and a
smile formed on his features, like the sun emerging over the eastern horizon.
Layla's breath caught in her throat and her heartbeat accelerated. Like one
foot had slipped into an abyss.
She stepped back, catching herself emotionally.
"And that's the grand tour."
Quickly, before she decided the risk was worth
taking, she moved back toward the stairs. And safety.
"What are the other rooms on this
floor?" Grady followed more slowly and glanced into the open door of a
room tucked into one of the turrets.
"Just...old stuff." Layla slipped
between him and her old bedroom, deftly closing the door on the private world
of her childhood.
Unfortunately for her peace of mind, that left
Layla standing with her back to the door, facing Grady. Up close.
"Why did you leave town and not come back for so long?"
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
For
years I've been fascinated by the puzzle of why some people collapse under
life's traumas and others emerge triumphantly stronger. These triumphs of the
human spirit over the ugliest of adversities became the basis for my stories.
Yet my dramatic stories have always contained touches of humor, and sometimes I
have great fun writing romantic comedy novellas. However, in all my stories, my
passion for writing romance is an outlet for the powerful messages that people
can overcome great difficulties, and true love can turn life’s heartaches into
happily ever after.
Hi, Nancy! Thank you for your kind words and for passing along news of my tour stop today. Your name is in the cyber-hat for the drawings!
DeleteGood morning, everyone! This promises to be a busy day for me, but I'll be checking for comments off and on all day. All commenters will be entered in a drawing for a $10 gift card today as well as a $25 gift card at the end of the tour.
ReplyDeleteIn between chatting with all of you, I'll be doing something else I love--hanging out with dogs! Yes, there's a reason dogs (and other pets) usually show up in my books. I have my own herd of dogs--most of them rescues--and today I'm helping some friends with their pet sitting business.
Do you have a dog or other pet you adore?
I love all your stories, and I know I will love this one too. I lost my sweet Yorkie this year at age 13. I got her when she was 6 weeks old. I don't think I will ever stop missing her.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) on the loss of your Yorkie, Momjane. Furbabies who have shared my life all live in my heart forever. Sometimes I cry when I think about them and then I laugh at the happy memories, especially if they are a real character like my Border Collie, Ace. That doggie had attitude, and was the inspiration for the dog in my first full-length novel, The Rock Star.
DeleteThanks for your kind words and for stopping by!
Fun excerpt! I haven't had a dog since I was little, but my brother's family has Bernese mountain dogs...gigantic, but very sweet!
Hi, "Anonymous"! :) Bernese Mountain Dogs are awesome! My Border Collie, Ace--the one with attitude--looked like a small version of a Bernese.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Who doesn't have a penchant for flashy shoes? Fun excerpt!
ReplyDeleteHi, Courtney! I have to admire flashy shoes from afar, since my back demanded I switch to "sensible shoes" many years ago. Fortunately, characters in a book can wear flashy shoes and not worry about achy backs, pinched toes, etc.!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Great excerpt. Can't wait to read it.
Waving hi, Cait! Glad you stopped by!
ReplyDeleteHi, everyone! My apologies for being sooooo late announcing the winner of the $10 gift card to Powell's Books. Busy day away from my computer--unusual for me. And I'm dodging the symptoms of a cold--yes, me who never gets sick. Figure if I run fast and zigzag, the bullets--I mean the cold--won't hit me, right? Enough excuses! The winner this week is: Courtney Rene!
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone who stopped by, and your names will go in the cyber-hat for the gift card drawing at the end of the tour.
CHASING THE LEGACY will be a fabulous read. It is interesting to consider how people react differently to situations.
