Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week my Teaser Tuesday is from Paris in Love: A Memoir by Eloisa James
From page 193:
The rooster comb brought back the deep despair that reverberated through our family that July - the way no grownups noticed that my sister had virtually stopped eating, and the way no grown-ups ever spoke to each other quietly, let alone civilly.
About Paris in Love: A Memoir
In 2009, New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James took a leap that many people dream about: she sold her house, took a sabbatical from her job as a Shakespeare professor, and moved her family to Paris. Paris in Love: A Memoir chronicles her joyful year in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
With no classes to teach, no committee meetings to attend, no lawn to mow or cars to park, Eloisa revels in the ordinary pleasures of life—discovering corner museums that tourists overlook, chronicling Frenchwomen’s sartorial triumphs, walking from one end of Paris to another. She copes with her Italian husband’s notions of quality time; her two hilarious children, ages eleven and fifteen, as they navigate schools—not to mention puberty—in a foreign language; and her mother-in-law Marina’s raised eyebrow in the kitchen (even as Marina overfeeds Milo, the family dog).
Paris in Love invites the reader into the life of a most enchanting family, framed by la ville de l’amour.
Interesting, quite sad actually!

Thanks! Following you now
DeleteThis one sounds fascinating. I hope you enjoy it. My teasers this week are from Big Sky Mountain by Linda Lael Miller and Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteSounds horrible, but horribly good.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound really sad but this is really quite an interesting book and I'm not much of a non-fiction reader but the title, the cover and knowing the author is an excellent writer made me want it:)
DeleteI loved A YEAR IN PROVENCE (by Peter Mayle) and I'm sure I'd enjoy PARIS IN LOVE too. Thank you for posting the book's synopsis. Truthfully, I'll just like to be in France right now!
ReplyDeleteMy Teaser is from Toxic Torte.
I've never been to Paris but I would definitely want to go
