Book Beginnings & Friday 56 - #78

Book Beginnings on Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Every Friday we share the first sentence (or so) of the book we’re currently reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.

My Book Beginning:

Crimes Against A Book Club by Kathy Cooperman

Prologue

That summer, everyone had an opinion on the Baker case.
My Thoughts:  I don't remember where I saw this book but it came across on an add and it looked like a fun book.  I haven't had a chance to start this yet but I'm really looking forward to it.

What do you think?  Don't forget to leave your book beginning below and to link-up at Rose City Reader.

Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda at Freda’s Voice on every Friday.

To Play along here are the Rules:

*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your post below.
*Don’t forget to add your post URL (not your blog url) at Freda’s Voice.
*It's that simple.

My 56 (Also from Crimes Against A Book Club by Kathy Cooperman – about 56% on Kindle):

“I can "It's evil! A bunch of puppets talking in over-bright voices about the color red or the letter A.  And the dialogue is terrible.  That Cat in the Hat show doesn't even rhyme.  Seuss would vomit if he ever saw the damned thing!"

My Thoughts:  I have no idea what is going on in this seen but any time that The Cat in the Hat is brought up...it makes me smile!

So what do you think?  Do the teasers tempt you? Don’t forget to leave your link below and to link up at Freda’sVoice.

About Crimes Against A Book Club by Kathy Cooperman

Best friends Annie and Sarah need cash—fast. Sarah, a beautiful, successful lawyer, wants nothing more than to have a baby. But balancing IVF treatments with a grueling eighty-hour workweek is no walk in the park. Meanwhile, Annie, a Harvard-grad chemist recently transplanted to Southern California, is cutting coupons to afford her young autistic son’s expensive therapy.

Desperate, the two friends come up with a brilliant plan: they’ll combine Sarah’s looks and Annie’s brains to sell a “luxury” antiaging face cream to the wealthy, fading beauties in Annie’s La Jolla book club. The scheme seems innocent enough, until Annie decides to add a special—and oh-so-illegal—ingredient that could bring their whole operation crashing to the ground.

Hilarious, intelligent, and warm, Crimes Against a Book Club is a delightful look at the lengths women will go to fend for their families and for one another.

Don't forget to post your meme's and link up at both host locations.

Have a great Friday!
