Book Beginnings & Friday 56 - #70

Book Beginnings on Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Every Friday we share the first sentence (or so) of the book we’re currently reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.

My Book Beginning:

Echoes in Death(In Death Series, Book 44) by J.D. Robb

Was she dead?
She felt like a ghost, untethered and insubstantial.
Was she floating?

My Thoughts:  I have both read and listened to every book in this series and I admit I'm addicted - I just love this series and dive into each new book with lots of enthusiasm.

What do you think?  Don't forget to leave your book beginning below and to link-up at Rose City Reader.

Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda at Freda’s Voice on every Friday.

To Play along here are the Rules:

*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your post below.
*Don’t forget to add your post URL (not your blog url) at Freda’s Voice.
*It's that simple.

My 56 (Also from Echoes in Death by J.D. Robb – about 56% on Kindle):

She stuck her hands in her coat pockets for warmth, was surprised as she nearly always was to find gloves.  Deciding it was a day for miracles , she pulled them on.

My Thoughts:  I've actually finished this in audio format and I'm now going through it in ebook form and have really enjoyed it.  Anyone who has read this series knows that Eve - the character in this scene - is a hopeless glove/mitten loser - she looses them regardless if they are $2 or $500 gloves - she's like my nieces and nephews - who haven't met a winter hat or pair of gloves they haven't lost.....😂😂😂

So what do you think?  Have you read any of the books in this series?

About Echoes In Death by J.D. Robb (In Death Series, Book 44)

As NY Lt. Eve Dallas and her billionaire husband Roarke are driving home, a young woman—dazed, naked, and bloody—suddenly stumbles out in front of their car. Roarke slams on the brakes and Eve springs into action.

Daphne Strazza is rushed to the ER, but it’s too late for her husband Dr. Anthony Strazza. A brilliant orthopedic surgeon, he now lies dead amid the wreckage of his obsessively organized town house, his three safes opened and emptied. Daphne would be a valuable witness, but in her terror and shock the only description of the perp she can offer is repeatedly calling him “the devil”...

While it emerges that Dr. Strazza was cold, controlling, and widely disliked, this is one case where the evidence doesn’t point to the spouse. So Eve and her team must get started on the legwork, interviewing everyone from dinner-party guests to professional colleagues to caterers, in a desperate race to answer some crucial questions:

What does the devil look like? And where will he show up next?

Don't forget to post your meme's and link up at both host locations.

Have a great Friday!

  1. I've read a couple of early ones in this series, and I like these more than the Nora Roberts style. :)

  5. I love this series, but have only read the first three. I might just skip ahead, as I doubt that I'll manage to read all of them!

  6. I love Nora Roberts but I haven't read any books under the JD Robb name. I'm really looking forward to giving this series a try. They sound fantastic!
