My Book Beginning:  

The Dark Horse (Walt Longmire, Book 5) by Craig Johnson

October 27, 11:00a.m.

It was the third week of a high plains October, and an unseasonably extended summer had baked the color from the landscape and had turned the rusted girders of the old bridge a thinned-out, tired brown.

My Thoughts:  I started listening to the audio books because I’m a fan of the series that was on TV.  I still have to watch Season 4 on Netflix and get ready for Season 5.  I wanted to see how different the books were from the show and the books are about 100 times better.  In fact they are so much better I want to pack up my stuff and move to where these stories take place to see if I can find my own “Walt”.  As for the beginning, it pretty much tells the story of what summers and early fall can be like in the Midwest – baked – and completely toasted…..lol

My 56 (Also from The Dark Horse – About 56% into Audio version of book): 

The treatment table had fallen over and Mary Barsad, still attached to an ECG monitor, was lying on the floor beside a series of small glass doored cabinets.  Vic was holding both her hands against the woman’s throat as the pulse of the blood from her carotid artery pushed with Mary’s pulse through my deputy’s fingers in a one and a half foot arc. 

My Thoughts:  Things always seem to happen when Walt gets involved in a case and either he, his deputies or the prisoner being held, and in some cases all of the above, end up in the local hospital.  There is always something going on – even when there’s no physical activity taking place on the page – something is going on either emotionally or mentally….lol.
