Book Beginning:
Revenge for
Hire (For Hire #2) by Natalie S. Ellis
Near West Side, Chicago
April 15th
The first blast of
music jerked Chris Panyard from a 3 am fog. Stupid ringtone. His hand felt like
a dead weight as it flopped around the nightstand to locate his cell as the
second round of music blared. Finally on the third round, he managed to fumble
the smartphone into his palm and swipe the screen.
My Thoughts: This is a book I'm reading for review at a later time. I’m
going to guess that Chris is not going to be a happy camper and that it better
be a really important phone call. I know
when people have called my house and I haven’t gotten up yet – somebody better
be bleeding….lol

ReplyDeleteGreat description of being awakened in the middle of the night! This book sounds frightening, especially since I have a young granddaughter. I already worry about her a lot. I'm not sure I'd be able to read this without getting nightmares.

ReplyDeleteI never leave my mobile switched on during the night, as I get more nuisance calls on it than anything else. I rely on a good old fashioned alarm clock and if our home line should ring in the middle of the nght, then I am almost certain that it is going to be a family member in some kind of distress, so whilst it may be a leap into the unknown by answering the call, I am already prepared for the worst!
The last time a man asked me if he made me nervous, I was incensed enough to accept a challenge whereby he spent the entire meeting trying to get one over on me and I became more and more angry that the CEO of a charity should be treating one of his volunteers in such a demeaning fashion! - I didn't come off too badly at the end of the encounter though and thought I stood my ground very well :)
I quite like the sound of this author's approach to writing and the storylines of both her books are intriguing. However I'm afraid that there might not be enough strength to the premise, outside the characters attraction for one another, for my liking.
