In this fourth in Spear's series, Private Eye Cameron MacPherson and Faith O'Mallery are both on quests that lead them into the world of magical wolves...

Cameron arrives in the Canadian Arctic to search for his partners in his P.I. business who are late returning from a hunting trip. Faith is there to discover what her father had seen in the same area years earlier that had made him lose touch with reality—man-wolves, he called them.

The two tumble into an icy world of enemies bent on destroying the lupus garou kind. As they turn into lupus garou themselves, and bond with the pack that only they can rescue from destruction, Cameron and Faith find their soul mates in each other.

My Review:  I really enjoyed reading this book.  I've read all of the other books in this series and can honestly state that each book is better than the last.

The main character of Faith O'Mallery is a complicated woman.  She's a talented Forsensic Scientist who has a professor for a father.  He has just finished a research paper that he was planning on publishing and taking public when it was stolen by the man that Faith had been dating.  Being who she is,  Faith decides to go after the man and take the research back for her father.  So Faith heads to Maine to a hunting lodge because she has discovered that is where her ex-boyfriend has gone.  Faith has no idea what the research was about, she just knows that she has to get the hard drive and flash drive back for her dad.  From the beginning of her trip, Faith has felt that she is being followed.  Faith meets Cameron at one of the hotel that they are both staying in.

Cameron is in Maine searching for 2 of his friends, who also happen to be partners in his detective business and have not returned from their hunting vacation.  Cameron has the feeling that something has taken place, but he doesn't know what.  We find out that Cameron is an ex-cop who enjoys his work but seems to have problems in relationships with women.  He is a really good guy who seems to always pick the wrong woman.  He is definitely very attracted to Faith from their first meeting and is hoping that she is the kind of woman he realy needs but can't seem to have a relationship with.  He is also impressed that she is in the forensic field.

Faith and Cameron end up staying in the same cabin and they merge their investigations, although Faith holds back some information as to why she is really there.  She claims to be trying to re-create the same vacation that her dad had taken in this region.  During their stay Cameron gets bitten by a white arctic wolf.  The white wolf is in reality, Kintail, the pack leader of the Loup-Garou in the region.  Cameron is now infected with the Loup-Garou strain and doesn't realize it.

Without giving too much away, one thing leads to another and Faith also ends up becoming infected with the Loup- Garou strain.  Both Cameron and Faith end up getting drawn into the mystery of who is killing the Loup-Garou in the area and now have a vested interest in solving that puzzle.

We also once again meet a recurring character in Leidolf, a red Loup-Garou who is in fact a royal.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and would recommend reading all of the books in the order written as there are recurring issues and characters.  I am looking forward to the next installment in this series.

My Rating:  4 out of 5 Crowns
